  1. the figure on the left is the return you would get if you staked the figure on the right

e.g  11/1 you put one pound on a horse, it wins , you get 11 pounds back.that is basically it.

  2. Here's an easy way for you to figure it out!

Say your odds are listed like this "7/8", you simply treat the "/" as a 'division sign' and divide 7 by 8 to get 0.875  You just take how much you want to bet and multiply it by the 0.875 to get your profit.  So if you were to wager 10 quid on odds of 7/8 then you would win 8.75 plus your original wager amount of 10 for a total amount of 18.75 quid.

    Another example:

    11/1 = 11

    Wager amount = 10

    10 x 11 = 110

    110 + 10(wager amount) = 120 total return

  3. its a propoertion

  4. OK. Betting odds are relatively simple once you understand the basics...so,

11/1 The odds here are11 to 1, You will win 11 times your stake if it wins i.e. you bet £5.00, you would win £55.00 plus your £5.00 stake back.

10/4 is not a price per se. but it is equivalent to 5/2 in its simplest form. 2.5 x your stake plus your stake back if it wins.

10/10 is also expressed as 1/1, or evens, You would double you stake if it wins.

100/30, 10/3 is equivalent to 3.3 x times unit stake.

The same principle is applied to all the prices.

Have a look at this site, it is old but he explains himself well

  5. Remember, a bookmaker can set the odds and take bets so that whatever horse wins he doesn't lose.

    It's a mugs game, betting.

I should know I've lost a small fortune over the years.

  6. 11/1 means....if your stake is 1 and if you win...you will get a return of 1+11 = 12

same 10/4 if you place a bet of 4euros and if you win you'll get a return of 10+4=14euros

    enjoy...All The Best ;-)

  7. All odds apart from the itsy bitsy ones are what you would to stake in order to win £100, so you get 100-1, 100-11/2 = 66-1, 100-2 =50-1, 100-2 1/2 = 40-1,100-3 =33-1, 100-4 25-1, 100-5 20-1, 100-6 now 16-1, 100-7, now 14-1,100-8 now 12-1, 100-9 now 11-1, 10-1, 100-11 9-1, 100-12 8-1,100-13 15-2, 100-14 7-1, 100-15 13-2, 100-16 6-1, then they start to shorten in 1/2 points to 7-2, then you get 100-30, 3-1 then reduce by 1/4's and then 1/8ths. You would not get 10/4, 7/8 or 10/10.  80-1 is rare.
