i don't understand it.

it means if i drive down a straight road and somebody is coming out from a junction on the right i have to let them out? or what??

Do i have to stop if i am on the roundabout and somebody is entering it ?

  1. dunno about roundabouts, but so far as i'm aware you must allow cars to join the road from the right.

drove in France about a year ago, and i found this rule to be very worrying.

  2. It's mostly for intersections. If you are stopped at an intersection and there is someone at your right trying to cross, they have priority. For the roundabouts entrance rights tend to be indicated pretty clearly anyways but the same kind of rule applies.

  3. I've only ever seen the Priorite a droite signs before or on a roundabout and when driving in France with French relatives, I was told that it just was a 'warning' to remind you to give way to those on the roundabout.- They have priority over you.  Priorite a gauche would make more sense as they go anti-clockwise around a roundabout!!  If you're driving down a straight road, you have the right of way, and people joining the road have to give way to you.  Bloody French eh?!!! You've gotta love them!!

  4. When you're about to enter a roundabout, you will see the sign "Vous n'avez pas de priorite'" which means that you do NOT have the right of way.  As in all countries, know if you have the right of way, but do not insist on it.
