  1. If you need something simple then you might do a demonstration of tire compounds and friction.

Demonstrate the "grip" of different compounds by setting up some simple spring scales on a "sled" made of a slice of different tire compounds with a weight on top. The visitor drags the sled across a surface and checks the weight on the scale. The higher the weight on the scale the greater the friction and, thus, "grip" of the tire.

Similar test could be used to demonstrate different tire treads and to demonstrate the effects of water and hydroplaning.

Local tire stores should be able to provide you with small sections of their tires.... or if you have time you can write to the major manufacturer and try to shake some freebies out of them.

For more advanced demonstrations you could use the same equipment to show the effects of tire softeners.

  2. how the engine works...

  3. deisel compared to bio deisel

  4. reaction times...like in drag racing...i did it as a science project and got first place!

  5. Aerodynamics, down force

  6. G-force - effects on the car - driver- top fuel dragster for instance... explain the effect of the wing, and the chassis...if the car weren't so flexible it would break in half because of so much down force that would show how much power these cars have(and they have broken in half before a few times) pictures would be cool... or the science of the combustion engine is a science its self.. how all the parts work together in harmony... that would be a really neat project...  anything else don't be afraid to ask...
