My coleus plants were potted outside and I was hit with the big storm in Hugo, MN today. The hail totally broke my plants. :(

Well, I read somewhere that coleus cuttlings will grow. In the past, my cuttlings have just died. Can you give me tips and direction on how to keep them living? I really just put the cuttling in the soil and let them sit and I treated them like normal plants but they just died. :(

  1. Your local plant shop should have a product that is a root hormone.  It looks like a powder.  You put the end of your cutting in the hormone and plant as normal.  It encourages the plant to grow roots and thus live.  Hope this helps

  2. Coleus roots with cuttings very easily.  Remove leaves from two-three nodes at base of cutting, and put them in water, at least two or three nodes deep.  Change the water daily.

Hormones would speed it up, but Coleus roots so fast it is not really worth it.
