Specifics: I've been running for years, I lost around 8 kilograms of weight considering a was 58kg and 164.5cm in height. I'm a male and 18 y.o. I've run 2 half marathon and more than two dozen 5km and 10 km races. My body type is a mesomorph. BUT, my problem is I have a large tricep muscle on my upper arms to my dismay. Because normally Since I've lost a lot of weight already, I should have a smaller muscle size. I find it awkward having a Steve Prefontaine or Nick Symmond's shoulder and arms. It looks heavy and makes it feel heavy too. By the way, my chest is smaller like most distance runner. I just need some advice how to make it smaller or not so dominating. I even tried lifting weights but it became stiffer and really heavy(hahaha, foolish me!). because of this, I considerably look like a sprinter or a very large jav thrower even though I already have those chicken legs that distance runners have. My Upper body is the part that's needed to be reengineered. Can somebody help me?

  2. The size of  your body, especially your arms depends on the size of the muscles.

When you don't  use the muscles they become smaller, that is, the cells of the muscle become smaller.

Not exercising those muscle groups is the only way to reduce the appearance of a muscle group.

You need to accept the body type you have and not worry about little things like the size of your triceps.

  3. U have to worked hard.

  4. There's also fast twitch, slow twitch muscle fibers.  Heavy weight training and powerful movements build fast to a degree, and repetitive motions build slow to a degree.  Slow are smaller, use oxygen, less power but lots of endurance, and fast is the opposite.  So running built slow in your legs which is why they'er skinny but you can keep running for long.  However you don't use your arms that much when running, so they don't get conditioned for slow.

So my guess is, to shrink your triceps, get something light- 5 or 8 pound weights.  Lie flat on your front on a bench and do sets of 150 tricep extensions, maybe more- enough to get a burn.  Just keep doing them every day, and your triceps will get weaker but gain endurance- and get smaller.  Lifting weights- light weight, many, many reps and they'll shrink.
