Can somebody please help me with my faith?

Alright so one story in the bible has me questioning my faith; and that is the story of god turning himself into a burning bush to talk to moses. This story tears me away from christianity because it reminds me of greek mythology. Were gods turn themselves into animals or inanimate objects, like the story of poseidon and demeter, if you know it, what i am saying may seem irrelevant, but it reminds me of moses and the burning bush, in the way that poseidon and demeter turned themselves into horses, (but nothing else of that story reminds me of moses and the burning bush lol) If somebody could help me strengthen my faith that would be great.

  1. 1. God did not turn Himself into a burning bush, that was merely a vessel.

    2. God spoke to Moses out of the burning bush, but that doesn't mean He was actually the bush itself.

    3. God chose different ways to speak to different people. However, He now speaks to all mankind through His Word and His Son.

  2. God did not turn himself into a Burning Bush.

God just used a burning bush to get Moses attention.

    See Exodus chapter 3.

  3. Think about science

Notice what happens when anyone is "miraculously cured". A person is sick, the person prays (or a prayer circle prays for the person) and the person is cured. A religious person looks at it and says, "God performed a miracle because of prayer!" That is the end of it.

A scientist looks at it in a very different way. A scientist looks at it and says, "Prayer had nothing to do with it - there is a natural cause for what we see here. If we understand the natural cause, then we can heal many more people suffering from the same condition."

In other words, it is only by assuming that God is imaginary that science can proceed.

  4. God did not turn himself into a burning bush , remember the bible says no man can see God & live. He communicated through what appeared to be a burning bush.

  5. you should always question your faith if you had a good reason you wouldnt need faith

  6. This should help:

  7. I have found that most of Christianity is either plagiarized (mostly from paganism) or just made up.

PS: To the poster of this question at least do you're self the honor of learning about what Christianity really is even if you don't believe me just do some research on both Christianity and Paganism and you will soon see the similarities.

  8. Why would that shake your faith. The bible speaks of other Gods. But there is only one good that you should 'worship'. God also even now works through humans. healing the sick and sending messages. Satan talked to Adam and Eve as a snake. That shouldn't shake your faith. Go pray.

  9.    Ok, it does seem that many of the different religions have similarities with other older ones. I have found that Christianity shares alot of the same stories with the faiths of Egypt,Babylon,Persia,Greece, ect ect. Sorry, do some research, you'll see I'm right.

  10. Many of the stories in all the religions are rip-offs of earlier religions. That is because the religions are made up. Man makes up and repackages the same stories over and over again. It is good to question your faith. You can always believe, but you really should know where the stories come from.

  11. Sure read the book of Job I myself find it cruel to let someone who worships you like you ask to be tortured like that but from what I hear from Christians Its a good thing Because He gets a New family and all his wealth back (I guess his first family would agree with me but who's to say) hope this helps

  12. God does not resemble His creation. He is the Creator, not the Created.  Did God really become a Fire?  or did Moses simply communicate or "hear" God's Message at the fire?

if Moses poured water over the fire- will God have died?  When we know by definition God does not die.

A muslim who reads the Quran in his prayers-  he is both the vessel that speaks the Word of God and the one who listens to the Word of God- the Quran is the Speech of God. So you can bring that story in where a muslim praying is BOTH that tree(on fire) and Moses hearing God's Words.

I'll get clarification on this from a guy who knows christian theology, mythology, and islamic theology /comparative theology

Christian theology frames many biblical story in the clothing of the language used by the Greeks and you can draw those parallels- its unfortunate but it was inevitable. Islam's notion of God is more clear cut- God being God and creation being creation- they are not equal

God does not become Man (or a prophet like Jesus- nor did Jesus say anything like that in the bible)

When islamic scholars wrote works in Spain- these works influenced catholic thought in rebuking many of their pre-conceived ideas which they got from the Greeks- st. Aquinas read many works from Al-Gazzali, Al-Razi, Maimonides (the jewish scholar in spain),  ibn Sina etc-  a lot of this stuff, the catholics agreed with them because they faced the same questions you are asking right now

so well done and keep asking questions and be open minded about religion- God will guide those who seek God-  keep your thoughts of God clear and uncorrupted.
