  1. Who ever thinks walmart bikes are durable doesn't have a clue.  I would stick with the Diamondback.  Go to a bike shop and get a bike that fits you and will last.

  2. i have to go with Bob H it would be a better idea to get one from your local bike shop but if u have to get one at wal-mart get the schwinn there a name brand

  3. from a serious cyclist's point of view these are kids bikes.  yes, they are heavy.  yes the components are sloppy, weight a ton and are generally more designed to put up with the abuse a kid can dish out.  they are what they are.  they are durable, they are slow, they are heavy, they are a bike more designed for a kid to beat around on than to go out doing real riding.

  4. Your Diamondback is probably better than anything you'll find at Walmart. Put some slicks or some narrow tires on it and tear it up.

The only bikes I would buy at Walmart would be something for a little kid, or a single-speed cruiser for getting around the large campus where I work.

  5. ANY bike from a big box store is going to be JUNK. They have heavy cheap frames and bottom end parts everywhere else. They won't hold up to much serious riding.

  6. wallymarte' truly sucks, you will find this if you buy a bike from it.

  7. That's like asking which sumo wrestler is also an international supermodel!  Whether a Prius is good at the drag strip!

THERE ARE NO GOOD BIKES AT WAL-MART!

None.  Despite the brand names you see, they are the bottom of the barrel.  So bad that bike shops won't carry them, and so poorly assembled that they are rolling death traps.

An additional wisdom nugget for the Wal-mart shoppers:  WD-40 is NOT chain lube either!

  8. Please PLEASE don't buy a road bike from Walmart.

Instead, look around to find a used road bike in your price range. The GMC Denali and the Schwinn they offer are terrible bikes. If necessary just get a cash advance on your credit card to buy.

EDIT: The Sorrento is a MUCH better bike than you'd find at Walmart.

  9. ill add on to the guy above me, instead of not handling "Serious" stuff, you'll be lucky if you could get 100miles before the thing breaks, and that's riding easily on-road.

  10. This is a trick question.  You will not get a good road bike from Wal Mart.  Unless your definition of good is heavy, sub-standard parts and frame.

Go to your local bike shop.  You will pay a little more, but will get a bicycle that will last years.
