  1. I am processing my H1B from accururm technologies. Thanks for the link above. The people at accurum also told me the same information regarding the visa. Seems it’s a valid work permit to work in the US and one has to apply that through a company before coming to US to work. If my understanding is correct, the H1B will be filed on the 1st of April 2008, thereafter once approved, they will start interviews with their clients and also send me work order on behalf of accurum technologies.

Basically, it is a temporary work visa that allows you to work in the US for 3 years and can be renewed only once.  The are given to folks who's skills are highly in demand (i.e. computer programers).  The number of visa granted under this category is capped @ 185K/year was was met in 1 day last year.

  3. The H-1B is a non-immigrant visa category in the United States under the Immigration & Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H). It allows U.S. employers to seek temporary help from skilled foreigners. The H-1B classification is for “specialty occupations” only. The occupation must require a bachelor’s degree or equivalent for the application of theoretical and highly specialized knowledge
