Can somebody tell me what kind of a bird this is?

I saw it sitting there on the ground with its wing sort of covering it... (it flew away though, so I don't think it was hurt or anything.)

At first I thought it was a robin... but I'm not sure.

looks like a baby robin learning to fly.

Yep, it's a fledgling robin.  They look a little different with spots on their throat that go away later.  They crack me up.  I can always tell a young robin, even before I see the spots, because he looks like he doesn't know what he's doing.  He looks lost, confused, maybe directionless.  Adult robins always have a purpose-- they know what they're doing.  Young ones are always looking up for mom.
