  1. I would look into to getting Developmental Therapy for your son. My child has autism and  gets 15 hours of DT a week. it's 3 hours a day 5 days a week and there's socialization with other special needs kids at the facility. You would have to look into your mental/behavioral health agencies. DT is one on one... he would have worker that is male or female ( your preference) and they would work in the facility, at your home, or out in the community. A branch of medicaid pays for this. NO cost to you, if you qualify for medicaid. You will have to monitor the worker and make sure you are fully satisfied with him/her. Obviously, your son won't be able to express much of his opinion about his worker. My child couldn't either... my child can now, some. my child been in speech therapy for 3 years and gets outside therapy for  self-control and mood swings. my child also takes meds.

  2. Start by asking your child's school where there are services in your area, then contact your local MHMR office and ask them what's out there. Sometimes doctors, churches and hospitals have support groups as well as activity events.
