Is there anything else i should consider which might affect computer speed?

  1. The pentium Dual would be slightly faster, but I would NOT recommend either of those. If you want your comp to be fast for a decent price get a 1.85 GHz processor (dual) with 2GB of RAM at least!

  2. if you dont have enough ram...the extra .4 processor speed wont mean anything.

The 1.6 GHz 1GB ram is better as there is enough ram to get the most out of the dual core processor

  3. You didnt give enough details like for Celeron? is it duel or quad core?  but my guess is Celeron.

  4. WHAT??????

    HUH???????

  5. OS, what your using it for there are alot of things that effect its speed but between those two i would go with the pent

  6. Celeron

  7. celron

  8. that is hard to say. Since the second processor is a dual core. You can't automatically say "dual core= two processors therefore two times the speed."

I will go with the dual core though mainly because the RAM that comes with the celeron is pitiful.

also you don't need 2 GB of RAM. You only need one.

  9. Second one: the one with 1GB of RAM is quicker.

Except for the processor, nothing else is needed to be considered

  10. Celeron - CPU speed is most important. If you have a great RAM card but a crappy CPU, the RAM card won't do it's best anyway.

  11. which ever one has the most L2 cache.  try and get at least 1MB L2 cache per core.

  12. Celeron is Intel's entry level processor line.

So Pentium dual core will outperform it any day of the week.

  13. defiantly the Pentium dual core with 1 gb of ram due to the abitiy for most os's to multitask using one of the cores and leave the other one free but there are so many other variables involved like video cards, type of ram, actual os, cache sizes, motherboard arcitecture, hard drive type, etc. will all effect over all speed.

For instance if you ran vista on each machine and the only thing that was different on them were the cpu and ram (if you made a typo on the 248 and meant 2048 mb) then the celeron would work faster because vista will eat 1 gb of ram for breakfast. but if you didn't make a typo then it wouldn't matter how fast the cpu is with that little bit of ram.

  14. definately a pent well i guess it depends on wat u use it for

  15. The computer with the Pentium Dual Core 1.6 GHz CPU and 1 GB of System RAM will run faster and feel zippier than the one with the Celeron 2 GHz CPU and 248 MB of System RAM.

Other things that will affect the apparent speed of the computer are (1) how many malware infections that manage to infect the computer after a few minutes connected to the Internet; (2) how many programs start up with Windows and reside in the System Tray; (3) how well defragmentation is maintained on the hard drive; (4) whether the computer has a video card with on-board video RAM and an onboard video processor or a built-in video subsystem that shares System RAM and the main CPU.

  16. The second one, because the celeron are consumers product for cheap stuff, + do not have enough memory that is only for 2000 or win98, dual mean doble, this machine have two procesors run each in 1.6ghz+ 3 times the amount of memory.

What you waiting for, and i think you can upgrade to 2GB or more of memory.
