  1. now i don't know about india, but in china, the worms die.

the process of taking the silk strand kills the worm.

keep in mind, at the point of collecting the silk, the worm is undergoing metamorphesis, and is no longer a worm, but is not yet a moth (or butterfly).

they must take the silk at this point.

any earlier in the life cycle, and the silk has not been spun.

any later, and the moth will have eaten it's way out, making the silk useless.

get over it, it's an insect.

i also note that there are quite a number of folks who answer nicely who obviously haven't a clue what's happening.

  2. The worms are not harmed as only the cocoons are used.  The worms have economic value, they are well cared for, ensuring their survival.

  3. I can't imagine something that I care less about. I can't understand the mind of a person that would be concerned about this. You can only be concerned about a limited number of things in this world. How does this rate such a high priority in your mind?

  4. The worms are not harmed as only the cocoons are used. Because the worms have economic value, they are well cared for, ensuring their survival.
