Yesterday I ran a 5k in the heat. It was very humid and at about 9 AM. I did not eat or drink anything before the race (mistake i know)

i was not running the race particuarlly fast or slow until I got to the last halfmile and a girl passed me. I wanted to pass her, so I sprinted and kept sprinting and passing people for the last half mile.

After the race, I vomited once and felt fine. I drank two bottles of water and had half of an orange.

About two hours later I developed an awful headache and an unquenchable thirst. This has still not gone away and I have been drinking A LOT of water.

I am also very tired even though I got plenty of sleep last night.

What's wrong with me?

  1. you're probably mentally and physically exhausted. i would just sit down/lay down and relax. keep drinking plenty of water and eating healthy. if you still think this is continuing, call your doctor for advice. try to refrain from sleeping too much and running that much without any energy.

  2. Heat exhaustion? I know that sometimes if I've been out in the heat too long, it makes me sick.

  3. Sounds like heat exhaustion...

Which could have progressed into heat stroke, an emergent situation.

A big thing you're going to need to recoup is rest!

  4. heat stroke or just dehydration. just keep drinking water and gatorade and powerade and stuff like that. even if you feel like you are about to burst from drinking so much keep drinking

  5. Dehydration!

You need sodium and potassium and electrolytes

Drink Gator Ade to replenish your needs..

  6. you over worked yourself. your body is just taking a huge blow. You're over exhausted. Just keep eating and drinking water, and hopefully in a couple of days you'll be back to normal.

  7. You may need to replenish your electrolytes.  Try gatorade or pedialyte.

  8. you probably had a heat stroke

you just need to sleep and drink water

  9. I would alternate between drinking a sip of water then a sip of gatorade. Keep drinking/sipping constantly. You need to replenish your nutrients to your body. Good luck and take it easy today.
