Can someone ask for police presents in a situation such as the one below?

On a main street near my home (in Miami), no one pays attention to the yield sign. It is an accident-prone corner and I wanted to know if there was a way that I can call the police station, and suggest a policeman’s presents on that corner - especially before 9am (peak time).

You can always try making the request , but that doesn't guarantee a police presence.

    Most towns and cities have their police resources spread pretty thin in order to save money. That probably holds true for your city, so you can expect that things get done on a priority basis.

      Don't be surprised if you're told that immigration issues and incoming drug problems are more important and need to be dealt with before time is spent on traffic issues.

Its presence and yes you have the right to call your local department to complain about it.  I would go in, talk to the shift supervisor of the time of day you are talking about.  Tell him what is happening and you are worried as there are lots of kids in that area etc etc.  I wouldn't be surprised if they set up a sting to ticket people for a few days.

IF that doesn't work talk to other people in your area, draw up a letter expressing your concerns in words and have all of them sign it with their address and present it to the police chief (via certified mail) and explain you had no option but to contact him about it as you were not helped through your local department.

Heck, if there are really lots of kids in the area call the local news reporter if the shift supervisor doesnt help you as they love to cause trouble and protect kids (earn ratings)

Yes you can and yes you should but on the flip side will they come, ask to speak to a supervisor, you will get better service and good luck...

you can try but it probally wont get you anywhere! we have an 4 way intersection right in front of our house, and many times we have had a car wind up in our yard! we have asked for stop signs for the last 26 years, but were ignored. finally believe it or not we got 2 of them put in last week! but if i were you, i would do this (i have) get you a coffee can full of rocks, and if you see someone who does'nt pay attention, throw rocks at them! that is what i used to do to speeding car's when i was a kid, but i had to hide in the bushes while i did it! i know thats not nice, but after you witness your best friends little 4 year old brother fly through the air and landing 4 houses down the road because someone wanted to speed down the road,  or not pay attention, they kind of deserve it!

You will likely not get much  response or concern by calling dispatch and asking for an officer.  They simply have too many other things happening.

Instead, call the main number (blue pages in the phone book) and look for the Traffic Enforcement  unit.  Most larger cities/areas have them.  Traffic units commonly involve themselves in rotational surveillance of problem spots, and traffic safety is their primary concern.  They don't have to worry about domestics, noise complaints, robberies, etc.  

You will notice much more interest, and probably a better response, from the traffic unit.  It may take them some time, a few days to a few weeks, to get there though, as they will surely have other problem spots on their calendar.

For God's sake, do NOT throw rocks or anything else at a moving vehicle.  Ultimately you will wind up hurting someone and, if by some miracle you don't hurt anyone, you've certainly endangered them.  You being arrested won't help safety at the intersection.

Just to nip the anticipated response in the bud, you would not only be endangering the unsafe driver, but you also endanger everyone around them.  How nice to see another four year old flying into the air because they ran into the road and driver, who would normally have seen them, was too busy being scared senseless by the stone impacting his window.  Wonderful plan.
