Can someone become deaf from a car accident?

Can an accident, such as the impact from a car accident, render someone deaf? (ie, if someone is in a car accident, and hits their head hard enough, can it take their hearing away?) Other than naturla causes and loud noise, what can cause someone to lose their hearing?
