I was just wondering if someone could look this question over and see if it's right? The reading wasn't exactly clear so I'm not 100% sure.

President Wilson convinced the Allies to

(a) divide the spoils of war among the victors

***(b) accept his plan for the League of Nations

(c) make Germany pay heavy war reparations

(d) allow Germany to keep its overseas colonies

And then for this next question, I got down to 2 different answers but don't know which it is so if anyone could help me with this one that would be great, thanks :)

How did Woodrow Wilson's reform platform during the 1912 campaign differ from that of Theodore Roosevelt's?

(a) Wilson supported federal regulation of business

***(b) Wilson promised to preserve free economic competition

***(c) Wilson supported tariff reduction

(d) Wilson promised to enforce antitrust laws

  1. Your first question is correct, although the World and the US Congress did not approve of his 14 point plan, they did approve of the League of Nations.

    Just to reiterate that:

C is wrong because the allies themselves wanted Germany to pay heavy war reparations because of all the damages done to their countries.  Nothing was really done to or on US soil, so Wilson, regardless of the Zimmerman Note issue, did not want Germany to have to pay, in that way.

A is also wrong because the spoils of war is really an 18th and 19th century war tactic.  By the 20th century, superpowers were developing into a geopolitical mind-set, so if anything, the allies would have wanted to divide Germany up among themselves, but not for a long period of time, and not just for their goods.

D is wrong because Germany did not have a lot of overseas colonies first of all, and second of all, Wilson was not a big fan of colonies because they were major causes of territorial disputes.

For your second question, you are correct in the assertion that A and D are wrong.

I believe that answer C is the correct answer, simply because the Democratic platform during the election of 1912 on the issues of tariffs was that the government could not enforce them, where as, the Republican platform said that they believed the use of tariffs helped protect American interests.

I know that Roosevelt did not run under the Republican party, but he was still a Republican at heart, so C is where they differed.
