I am buying a house and I have general knowledge of a spring/well system, there is a pipe that runs a few hundred yards into the woods, i assume this is access to the spring, so the pipe leads from the spring to the underground 'holding tank' or 'well'. in the tank is a submersible pump that drives the water from the holding tank to the pressure tank in the house. the pressure tank acts as insurance so we will have large amounts of water at any given time, and to create more pressure than the pump can give, or else there would be no use for it. so the pressure tank pushes water through the house (cold) or into the hot water tank, in which case the pressure is already being driven through the hot water tank so there is no loss of pressure. now this is what i picked up and have put together, any holes in this? also, what keeps animals and insects from infesting the pipes, tanks, etc...? there is no in-line filter or UV so the previous owners just drank from the ground? i have a tough time beleiving this.... yes, this is a rural area but still... if i were to put in a filter where should i do it, before teh pressure tank, after? one more thing, this is a big pressure tank, 5 feet high, what kind of pressure can i expect?
