Can someone clear up the situation surrounding Heath Ledger's death?

Hi, I just saw The Dark Knight and got into a debate with some of my friends about Ledger's death, I told them, as I have heard on the news, that he died by accident, from prescribed drugs, And recently I looking on Wikipedia around his death and it states:

"The medications found in the toxicological analysis are commonly prescribed in the United States for insomnia, anxiety, depression, pain, and/or cold symptoms. The Medical Examiner's Office also announced that it would not be publicly disclosing the official estimated time of death. The official announcement of the cause of Ledger's death heightened concerns about general "abuse of prescription medications"."

However, my friend told me that Ledger experimented with drugs all the time and that he was a true addict and that the role of the Joker corrupted his mind to some extent.

Can someone clear it up for me. I want to know. Thank you.

  1. First of all- don't believe much info you get wikipedia. Any average Joe can edit and write stuff on that site.

Heath died from an accidental overdose. It was completely ACCIDENTAL. End of story.

  2. Some people believe that since he had those in his system, plus early reports said they'd found a rolled up dollar bill near the bed (I don't know if they retracted that or not) would indicate he was doing cocaine as well. Combine the prescription drugs that would have slowed his heart rate along with the cocaine that would have sped it up, his heart didn't know what to do and just stopped. To my knowledge, that hasn't been said in the media, but it does seem a very likely scenario.
