  1. I only spent a few days on both campuses, but I thought Brown had a more artistic, creative, mellow vibe than Yale, and I definitely prefer Providence over New Haven. Providence is more charming, and has a true college town feel to it, whereas New Haven is a bit run down & boring. It is closer to NYC, though. The students at both schools are awesome. They are more than just academically gifted; most of the students are really accomplished & talented in other realms as well, and you're not going to get bored with them. There is also something going on at both campuses.

The main reason I prefer Brown is the unique curriculum that doesn't have gen ed requirements, and allows you to take whatever class you'd like as a pass/ fail. It's really cool because it liberates you to take whatever truly interests you without the pressure of potentially getting a grade that could affect your transcript, and you aren't bogged down by gen ed courses that have no relevance to your major.

The profs at both schools & stellar, and I think the teacher-student ratio are about the same. I wasn't really in love with the dorms at either, but I had a lot of fun staying at them on both campuses.

Yale is ranked higher, but thanks to that it's also got a lower rate of acceptance. Less than 8% got in last yr. A random little perk to Yale is they have Club Quarters, a private hotel in several cities, and a really cool Club House in NYC that is just for alums & their families.

Stanford is my top choice, but I'm applying to Brown & Yale as well and I think I would be happy at either.

    Good luck!

  2. Brown is the color of poo!
