  1. No, it is not safe. You will not win and at the very least they will sell your name to spammers as part of a sucker list.


  2. OK, here goes.  They will state what a prize is worth.  E.g., a pair of jeans that they say is worth $200.  If you win and find out that you could buy the same jeans for $79 somewhere, they will not pay you the $121 difference...Just the jeans.

    You will probably also have to declare the value of the jeans as income and pay federal and state income taxes on it.

    The contest is probably safe, except that you may receice advertizing emails from them for a long time.
