  1. Their empire stretched over millenia, and are divided into Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, and New Kingdom.  They include African descent rulers and Hellenic rulers.  Cleopatra, for example, was Hellenic, ie Greek.

  2. They were black people who lived in present day Egypt. Contrary to what semitic Arab Egyptians claim, ancient Egyptians have nothing in common with present day Egyptians. After the Arabs invaded Egypt and forced them to adopt their language and religion, ancient Egyptians fled or were killed. Eventually Arabs took over and now you have a modern Egypt that is backward, polluted, and ugly.

  3. I suggest the wiki entry. It sums up the whole thing in a few sections.

  4. The ancient Egyptians saw themselves as distinctly different from both the Nubians (sub-saharan AFricans) and the Asians.  They thought of themselves as unique among the peoples of the world.

Egypt is part of north Africa, and present-day Egyptians are very like thir ancestors.  I have seen pictures of modern Egyptians that look as if they had stepped straight out of Egyptian tomb paintings.

In 'The Seventy Great Mysteries of the Ancient World' it says:

'analyses of Egyptian skeletal material undertaken during the 1990s suggest that the people of ancient Egypt had stronger links with the peoples of Europe and south Asia than with the occupants of sub-Saharan Africa.

In addition, the most recent anthropological work suggests that the gradual north-south change in the Egyptian physical type is not even an indication of the mixing of two distinct races (i.e. ******* and Caucasoid) but a kind of spectrum whereby the physical type gradually adapts to environmental changes according to latitude and local conditions.'
