I was just wondering What do I need to move or get ready for when the Comcast guy come in my house to install internet for me? How do they do it? Do they need a cable box in the wall or just plug something in the computer to make it work? Can Someone explain please?

  1. They will place a splitter on the existing cable that you have coming from the wall, and have one coaxial cable going to your television or cable box, and another going to the modem that they will provide.  They will then take either an ethernet or USB cable and plug one of them into the back of your computer (depending on the ports that you have available).  They will install some software from the disc that comes with the modem on your computer and be on their way.

  2. They will provide you with an external modem that will plug into your pc and also into the wall. To help them out move your desk a few inches away from the wall so they can easily access the CAT5 or COAX connection at the wall. It's pretty simple and they will take care of all of the connections and making sure it works by the time they leave.

    Have fun.
