Can someone describe "luck" in football?

I read on here that people believe a 1-0 victory (Chelsea Vs Wigan) is a lucky win, because the goal scored very early.

On the other hand, a late goal (Liverpool) is again luck.

By this way everything in football is related to luck.

What's your definition of LUCK in football?

  1. luck means

winning with 1 goal difference only while the team that lost played better football in almost the whole duration of the match

the winning goal is a free kick, corner or a penalty

to sum up,luck is what happened with chelsea yesterday.wigan outplayed them yet that measly free kick earned them their victory

  2. Bribing the (ideally, central American) referees.

  3. Turkey's win vs Croatia in EURO 2008

  4. Bella said it for me, so I don't need to say it :)

  5. Liverpools last 2 games.  Even the fans admit it, lol.

  6. in the words of the wise King Freshy

Theres no such thing as luck.

  7. Pretty much being at the right place at the right time. Say somebody shot it from outside of the box, it hit the upright, deflected into the six, and there was a striker there to just tap it in, LUCK. Right place at the right time.

  8. well to me luck for a team is when a referee makes a stupid decision and award a penalty kick for a team in the dying minutes..it need not be a foul or a deliberate handball or anything..an error in referees split second judgment means a lot to the team winning that penalty.

this is called luck or a deflected goal can also be called a luck

it depends from person to person cos people tend to interpret it with their own liking

  9. I do not believe in luck in football. A goal is a goal. However Liverpool does seem to get nice dives going unspotted or handballs, etc

I wouldnt call that luck tho, It's something else

  10. Luck is what the other team has beating our team Always.

  11. Don't worry Mandana, our win wasn't luck, we controlled the game after we scored, pretty or not. We do this away from home a lot anyway. As long as we keep our perfect record at The Bridge and go away with the 3 pts, i'll be happy, anything after that is a bonus.

Now the perfect example of luck are both of Liverpools wins so far.

  12. Luck is when the opponent is better at every section, like possession, shots on goal, more opportunities etc etc etc but their opponent scores that one goal that the other team couldn't... like Man U vs Barca in the CL semis for example.... and late goals are luck too (not early goals) because if you're trying to score for the whole 90 minutes and you can't, only with luck you will score at 91th minute!!!!
