  1. Basically, an ATV is an off-road vehicle for a party of one. It is a cross between a small motorcycle and a go-cart. For its size it has a lot of power. And for all its maneuverability and handling, it will roll over and even flip if the driver is not trained properly and skilled. I see in today's news that a member of the Dave Matthew's band died from complications of a mishap he had while riding one back in June. Since his passing happened more than 30 days after the event, it will not be considered as a fatal statistic of ATVs. For utility chores and special purpose jobs off road, they are ideal. For recreational use, especially in the hands of minors and infrequent riders, they can be (and are) lethal.

  2. An all-terrain vehicle is a 3 or 4 wheeler. An all-terrain accident is an accident that occurred while on the vehicle. Like if you flipped the vehicle while trying  to go up a steep hill or do a jump and broke ur arm.. you would have been involved in an all-terrain v. accident.

Are you asking this b/c of the sax player from DMB? I heard and it is so sad!!

    Hope this helps.

  3. There once was an ATV that was used to jump a wall.

But the rider wasn't experienced and had a great fall.

With injuries too devastating, death was his fate.

And the ATV was blamed.... for not being too safe.

That's pretty much an ATV accident in a nutshell. People with more courage than brains, spill their brains on the ground and their survivors want to blame the vehicle.

  4. like a quad or dirt bike and maybe even a snowmobile.

  5. Most ATV operators have heard that the center of gravity is a huge factor in preventing an accident or rollover when driving an all terrain vehicle. Even still, many do not exactly understand what center of gravity is and what its effects are in accident prevention and driving safety.

A quick definition of center of gravity is the location on the object, in this case, an ATV, where the weight is distributed. If an ATV's design has a low center of gravity, the weight is closer to the ground and tip over is less likely. Should the center of gravity be higher on the vehicle, like in the case of the Yamaha Rhino ATV, the ATV will be top-heavy and roll or tip over easily.

Shifting body weight can have some effect to counterbalance the vehicle if the center of gravity is causing a rollover, but only in a few cases. The best defense against an accident is to be certain that the vehicle you are driving has a low center of gravity.

  6. THe name  pretty much says it all.
