Question:

Can someone explain anarcha-feminism for me?

Why do people think that true equality can only exsist without the bonds of government? Is my interpretation of anarcha-feminism wrong here? Feminists constantly fight for "equality" laws such as affirmative action and the likes, and use the legal system for discrimination suits rampantly.

If the world were to degrade to an anarchist state, "free" from laws, wouldn't the superior male body strength, coupled with a lack of order put women at a horrible disadvantage?

  1. Not all feminists believe in government involvement (obviously). Anarcho-feminists believe that having structure and having a government only reinforces male domination of women ("the patriarchy").

Anarchism's main assumption is that human beings are naturally good and that government is what corrupts them, so anarcho-feminism is in tune with anarchist beliefs.

    Hope this helped :)

    EDIT:

Well, anarcho-primitivists aren't the type to 'hide behind the government.' As I explained, they believe that GOVERNMENT and SOCIETY is what creates these problems, rather than the inherent nature of human beings.

Personally, I think that an anarchist society would exacerbate gender roles, but different people have different opinions. I'm not really up-to-date on the latest arguments for anarchism, so I can't really answer any better than this.

    EDIT #2:

I'm not an anarcho-feminist so I honestly can't tell you where they're coming from. The entire concept of anarchism seems flawed to me, because hopeful though it might be to believe, human beings are NOT pure and good on the inside but corrupted by government. Corruption in government is the product of humanity's flaws, not the reverse. It all comes down to how much faith you have in humanity.

  2. Of all of the branches of misandry (or 'feminism' as its adherents call it), anarcho-feminism is probably the only one that has any potential at all to lead to a society where equality can occur. The basic assumption is that without the state then equality would be the default condition, which is compatible with anarchism.

All other branches of misandry can moo that they are about 'equality' all they want, but they are really about the repression of men. Nothing more, nothing less.
