we dont normally bet but we thought we'd get the kids to pick a horse each for a laugh and was wondering what you'd get for a £1 bet say on a 33-1

  1. There is no tax on winnings, so if you bet £1 on a horse to win and it won at 33-1, you would get £34, £33 winnings and your stake back.

Betting shop staff will be happy to give you any help you want.

  2. depends were the horse comes in the race 1,2,3,4 or 5th

i think its £66 pounds if its first im not too sure the bookies will know and have all the information you need im sure they wont mind if u ask

gud luck with your horse xx

  3. At 33-1 you would lose £1.

  4. 33-1 means every pound you put on you get 33 pound back if you win ,you also get your stake money back..ie 1 pound .so in all you would collect 34 squid

  5. Thats an easy one 33 to 1 means 33 times your money. So you win 32 pounds.

  6. You might be better off putting an each way bet on which means you're guaranteed a pay out even if your 33/1 horse comes 2nd, 3rd or 4th. You get a quarter of the odds if the horse finishes anywhere but 1st and for £1 each way (so a £2 bet) the return if your horse won would be £43.25....(thats including your £2 stake back too

  7. think of the price as a fraction bottom half of the fraction is your stake and top half of the fraction is your winnings eg 33/1 would give you back £34  or you  could also work it out on a calculator by turning it into a decimal  fraction heres how the price of 33/1 take the top part of the fraction add the bottom half of the fraction then divide by the bottom half and then mulitply by your stake hope that helps if its an eachway bet you've done that's more complicated.

  8. You would win 33 quid, plus you get your pound back.#

If you back the horse each way, you must pay £2  and returns would be as follows:

If it wins: £43.25 (including your stake)

If it places 2nd, 3rd or 4th: £9.25 (including your stake)

  9. £33 plus your £1 back if it wins depending if you put it on the nose, if you do it both ways you win a reduced amount if it comes in 2nd 3rd and sometimes 4th. good luck.

  10. Hi there,

If you put £1 on, you would get your £1 stake back plus a £33 win. So a total of £34.

Anything else, please just ask :)
