I need to hook up two devices through component video but my TV only has one input. Can I split the input into 2 with this?

http://tinyurl.com/6yyqgm

It says "Adapter allows two sets of RCA RGB cables into one device or split one set into two."

But another one I looked at http://tinyurl.com/5dejc9 said "(*) This is splitter cable. You can only connect one input device (i.e. DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver) to two output device(i.e. TV or projector). You can't connect two input device (i.e. DVD player, cable box or satellite receiver) to one output device(i.e. TV or projector)"

Can someone explain it to me?

  1. A "y cable" or splitter is used to send one signal to two locations but they do not work to send two signals to one location very well.

What you want is a RGB switch:

There probably are others out there too.

  2. Daniel is right, you need a switch. If you don't want to wait for the mail, Radio Shack sells Component Video Switches too, and they are cheap.
