Can someone explain custom firmware for psp to me?

ive been thinking about downloadin custom firmware for my psp, but im not sure if ill ever be able to go back to regular if i do. Also, what r some benifits of custom psp firmware? If anybody has a link to download customfirmware or a website that can help explain better please add it to your responses please. Thanks in advance.

  1. once on custom firmware you can just update to regular firmware if you want.. its as easy as updating official firmware to official firmware.

    benefits are:

    more customization

    third party applications

    play games off the mem stick
