  1. The former ruling families of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and of Hanover descend from British monarchs in the male-line.

The former ruling family of Hanover descends from George III in the male line and the former ruling family of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha descends from Victoria in the male-line. Before the Titles Deprivation Act 1917, these families had the title Prince(ss) of Great Britain and Ireland. The Hanoverian Royal Family still uses this title.

Various other German royals are connected to the British Royal Family by marriage or are descended from them. This comes from the time when royalty traditionally married other royalty.

  2. Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert was German perhaps it has something to do with him. But also through marriages because European royals believed that to mend relations with other nations marriage was the answer for example Marie Antoinette and also to gain land and property.

  3. They intermarried.

Some members of the Royal Family in Britain were German Royals and married a member of the Royal family in Britain.

Most members of any Royal Family in Europe were and are related.

Sometimes wars were fought to gain property and sometimes people just married to do so...

  4. Queen Victoria was VERY prolific - about a dozen sons and daughters.

And there is a tradition in Europe that royals marry other royals - for instance, Prince Phillip, husband of Queen Elizabeth, is Greek.

So they farmed a lot of the kids out.
