Hi,

I have been doing some research on setting up a college savings program for my baby girl. Has anyone used U Promise? How does it work? Do you have to sign up for a credit card or something? Would you recommend it to others?

Thanks!!! ::)

  1. Upromise is a free service designed to help families save for college or fund a school. It's simple: you save when you shop for the things you need with the upromise card

    Its a discount card with thousands of companies to help you save for your child's college education. You can save when you shop online, at your favorite stores, or at the grocery or drug store. You can save when you travel, dine out, you just show them the discount card [its free]. And every dollar you spend towards eligible purchases is rewarded with money going into your account, your childs account or your child's school account.

    You can also get a credit card and again when you use it your rewarded the same as above.

    I would recommend it, and use it for the items on there list.

    I also use BoxTop for education to help their schools and Target has a program too that use can use there store card and a percent that you send Target will give to your school.

    So My system is using my target visa card, with my upromise discount card with the coupons i get from boxtop. And i send in the boxtops to the school that the kids go to.

    With three teen boys still at home it save me tons of money doing it this way.

  2. Upromise is basically a "rebate program" which gives you a percent "rebate" on a specific product which is connected with Upromise.  You can get discounts on with on-line shopping using your registered credit card.  Also many other places that are Upromise sponsors.  Anything from gasoline to groceries.  It gets automatically added to an account which is not connected to any specific college fund, but when you get your college fund going, it basically goes into the college fund of your choice.  You do have to register your credit card and grocery cards or even family credit cards can also be added to the account as well.

    I use it and have both my family and extended family contributing to it!
