  1. "What is America"--by--Harry Browne

    The Bill of Rights:

The first is the concept that government is limited to a few specific, clearly defined functions. The Bill of Rights makes this clear. The 9th and 10th amendments specify that the federal government may not do anything that isn't spelled out in the Constitution.

And to drive that home, the Bill of Rights specifically guarantees your freedom to speak, worship, write, assemble, protest, or protect yourself. There are no exceptions allowed - even when the politicians claim to have a "compelling interest" in limiting your liberty.

Before America, no country was ever governed by such a document. It put government in a small, confined compartment.

  2. The first ten amendment to the u.s. constitution are often called the bill of rights.  If you want to know all that they might mean, entire sections of law libraries are devoted to such questions.  Go to law school for the basics and then spend a few decades reading and you still won't know all there is to know on the subject.

  3. The Bill of rights is 10 ammendments the founding fathers added to the constitution that guarenteed every american certain rights.

The most well known being freedom of speech, religion, etc.

Over the years, recently, these rights have basically gone out the window. I estimate this started with the ratification of the 16th ammendmend (income tax) at the beginning of the 20th century.

  4. It's a concept that was abandoned in this country at the beginning of the 20th century.  It used to be that people could speak freely, worship as the like and were secure in their property and persons.

Between the IRS, the misnamed Patriot act, and a host of other violations we have precious little of those rights left.

The one right that has been under the most assault yet the hardest to deny is the right to bear arms.  It's easy to silence a person, but disarming them is a bit dicier.

  5. As I look it over, it seems to need no explanation  It is very plainly written so that almost anyone can understand it.  I am not going to write it out for you, try Wikipedia, they will list the 10 rights that all Americans are supposed to have by being citizens of this country.
