    You'll also find lots of information for beginners in horse betting at http://GamblingReviewsSite.com/horsebett...  You'll find a glossary of horse wagering terms as well as explanations of every type of horse racing wagers.  Good luck!

  2. An  "exacta " bet is you are betting on the 1st & 2nd place horse, in the same race, in that order.  Your 2 horses must finish in 1st & 2nd in the exact order you picked.

    A "trifecta " or "triple", you bet on the order of finish of 3 horses in the same race.  Your 3 horses must finish 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the exact order you picked.

    You can " box " these bets and you will win requardless of the order of finish but a boxed wager cost more $$$.

  3. Remember when you play a Tri; if you want to use your money the best way here are some examples, I'll use the Ky Derby  running tommorrow for my picks;

    When you go to window say the following:

    "At Churchill Downs the 10th race; I would like a $2.00 Tri = # 20 with the 1-4-6 with the 1-4-6"= $12.00 cost.

    or if you play two horses in first and second that are the same #'s..Here's how= "At Churchill Downs the 10th race;

    I would like a $2.00 Tri = #10- 20 with the #10-20 with the 1-4-6

    cost $12.00". jm

  4. An exacta is a bet on the top 2 horses.

    You can do a straight exacta, meaning you're betting one horse for first and one horse for second...  if you bet the 1 over the 2, you win if the 1 wins and the 2 comes second... however, you lose if the 2 wins and the 1 comes second.

    You can bet an exacta box meaning you're betting that these 2 horses will come in first or second... you're betting the 1 and 2 over the 1 and 2... so if the 1 wins and the 2 comes second OR if the 2 wins and the 1 comes second, you win!

    You can do an exacta wheel which means that you're betting on one or more horses to win and one or more horses to place.  You might think the 3 has a chance to be second but you don't think it will come first... so you'll bet the 1 and 2 over the 1, 2, and 3.  That way if 1 or 2 win and either the 1, 2, or 3, place, you win.

    Remember that you have to pay for ever combination that you're betting.  Your straight exacta is $2.  To box that exacta, it's $4 because you have 2 chances to win.  If you wheel the exacta, with 2 horses on top and 3 on bottom, it will cost you $8 because you're paying for more combinations ($2 for each combination: 12, 21, 13, and 23).  Remember that you can exacta box as many horses as you want... you can have a 3 or 4 horse exacta box.

    A trifecta is a bet on the top 3 finishers.  Just like an exacta, you can bet it straight, boxed, or wheeled.  A 3 horse tri box will cost you $12 ($2 for each combination: 123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321).

    As a general rule, you should probably bet these boxed unless you're pretty sure that one of your horses will or will not win.  It costs more to box your exotic bets, but they pay out enough that it will make up for it.
