Can someone explain the new burger king commercial?

Question

I dont understand the new BK commercial. its where the mom is cutting an apple for her daughter..and her daughter wont eat it...then the big BK guy comes in costume and gives the daughter "apple fries" and then the narrator is like "if he had a son.." and then the mom says, "arent you going to say hello to your father?" and a mini BK boy kicks the big BK guy.

well, one  the bk doesn't have a son, so that is supposed to be funny i guess and two.... he kicks the dad so the dad grabs his knee so the son can take the fries from him..... i guess it is supposed to be funny because of the son and the girl and  idk  it is kinda dumb to me!

I do not understand it either, but I have never understood them, matter of fact I cannot stand any of the Burger King commercials an never have all my life they are so stupid. I would like to make a stupid commercial and get paid as much as that character does.!!!

I believe it's trying to introduce a "healthy" alternative to fries in the kids meal.  The daughter won't eat an apple, but she'll eat the apple fries because "daddy" brought them.  Perhaps, it's also showing the daughter rebel against the mom, and as a comedic alternative, shows the son rebel with a swift kick in the shin to the King and takes the apple fries, showing the King is favored by the daughter but not the son.  I didn't find it funny until after he gets kicked in the shin, he bangs his fist on the counter and thats where I laugh.  Not sure why, but it is funny.

I am with you, I don't understand the commercial either.  I  think it teaches disrespect to parents or anyone by having his "son" kicking him.  It would be nice if they could take a lesson from Publix supermarket and have some advertisements that show respect.  Another idea would be to show children having fun and enjoying the new food ideas.  When I see ads like BK's, it makes me want to eat at Wendy's or McDonalds.
