Is it just a tradition for players to grow them? Or is there a superstition attached to it?

  1. The superstition is that a player should never shave in the playoffs or they might lose. There are others like, if you touch the stanley cup without winning it, then you will never win it. Or in the playoffs, the captin of the team doesn't touch the trophy for winning the confrence, or you will lose.

  2. It's just that they believe if they shave or change anything about their apperence they belive that the change will cause they to lose. This usally happens if they just won.

  3. Yeah, it's believed to be good luck.

  7. It is a tradition started in the early 80s by the New York Islanders.  They won a couple cups never shaving and it caught on.  Not everyone grows them but it is one of those superstitions that just kind of sprang up cause it seemed to work once.
