  1. The below link is a collection of questions and answers about the situation.

  2. I will try to be brief, coz all im doing here today is to explain things

First of all i want every1 to know that Georgia is indefendent country and it existed before Soviet Union ( so calles USSR). it has much more history then Russia, when the russian nation was still in the woods and caves, Georgia was already formed as a country with its onw language and alphabet,

during the years, Georgia has been the interest of different countries, coz of its geo-political location, it has been annexed several times but always kept its territories, religion and culture as much as it was possible.

It was one of the first countries that declared independance and seperated from the Sovet Union, since then the russian federation tries to get Georgia back to its borders. More or less the same situation is in other post soviet countries like Urkain and others.

What happen nowadays is that so called South Ossetia ( Georgians call it Samachavblo and Russians called it South Ossetia , as North Ossetia is on the territory of Russia and by calling the territpry of Georgia South Ossetia it easied them to have pretension for this territory) declared indefendence and wants to join russia. I mean its more the officials of the South ossetia wants to join russia, as for the local population , the majority of south ossetian people hold russian passports is because russia has been issuing russian passports to south ossetian people in the last few years with the purpose of drawing south ossetia closer to russia.

Russia has been planning this military action against Georgia long before, just fancy how quickly their tanks started to roll on the territory of Georgia! it was as if the tanks had been stationed along the border  and couldnt want any better excuse to send their troops in.

one more thing, ppl write Georgians killed the local population, its not true, Russians were shelling not only the conflict zones, but also other regions of Georgia, and there are facts, pictures and videos, its just if u watch Russian channels of foreign channels that are providing information through Russian channels you wont see anything,

Sorry if i wrote many things, it just seems to me that ppl dont have the very information to make adequate conclusions...

  3. SouthOseita is part of Georgia but a group of rebels (russians) want to be a part of the ex soviet union which ex pres. Putin has been trying to restore .Georgia has become a democracy and friends with the US and the Russians hate it . The Russians have been planning this a long time and now they are invading Geoargia .

  4. Gladly.

In 1991 the USSR fell. Georgia became an independent state. South Osettia and a few other regions wanted to be free or Russian. So they fought and won de facto freedom in 1992. Since then Georgia has sworn to retake them. Meanwhile, South Osettia has become primarily Russian in citizenship. This week Georgia invaded and killed Russian peacekeepers and South Osettians. Now Russia is hitting back.

  5. From wht i know

A delegation including envoys from the US, EU and Nato is heading to Georgia as its conflict with Russia over the breakaway South Ossetia region deepens.

The envoys hope to broker a truce after three days of fighting which are said to have killed or injured hundreds, and sent many others fleeing.

Russian jets have bombed several towns, including Gori in central Georgia.

Russia says it wants Georgian forces to withdraw to the positions they held outside South Ossetia before Thursday.

A Russian air strike on Gori, a Georgian town near South Ossetia, left 60 people dead, many of them civilians, Georgia says.

Russian officials say hundreds of civilians have been killed in South Ossetia. Georgia denies the figure, which cannot be independently verified.

  6. WE ARE PUSHING FOR THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF GEORGIA TO BECOME PART OF NATO. ITS LIKE IN 1960s WHEN THE U.S.S.R. WANTED TO BASE NUCLEAR WEAPONS IN CUBA. THE OTHER SIDE DOESN'T LIKE A FIST CLUTCHING AT ITS THROAT. IT ALSO GOES BACK TO LIKE THE COLONIAL, IMPERIALISTIC DAYS WHEN COUNTRIES SPLIT APART WITHOUT REGARD TO FUTURE ENIGMAS. LIKE, FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN BRITAIN MADE IRAQ A DISTINCT NATION OF TRIBES WHO HATED EACH OTHER.

  7. official: a part of Georgia, Samachablo declared its independence calling itself South Ossetia, thus hinting on being a part of Northern Ossetia, now a part of Russia. Russian peacekeeping troops have been on Georgian territory for years favoring further escalation of the conflict. conflict between so called South Ossetia and Georgia is now an obvious conflict between two neighboring countries - Georgia and Russia.

brutal reality: civilians dying in and outside of the conflict zone. russian aircrafts flying over Georgian towns miles away from the conflict zone. BOMBING. Georgians asking for support from the West.

  8. Sure.  Georgia is the preseason #1 pick in the coaches poll.  However, they've had a few disciplinary issues with a few players who have been suspended for a game or two.  The biggest challenge for Head Coach Mark Richt will be to keep his team together and get off to a good start to maintain their preseason number one ranking.  Remember Georgia finished last year with a dominating Sugar Bowl victory over previously unbeated Hawaii, so the number one ranking is probably justified.

  9. Georgians have always been a people who enjoy life.  They were allowed some freedoms under the pre-1991 Moscow government.  It is as simple that Russia needs to display its "national pride"  to make sure that everyone realizes that the former leader is the still the leader.  Of course, stomping out the joy in the life of the Georgians is just a dividend to the effort.   But, "you know who" is  down at the general area of the fighting.  Look for more nationalization of the capital stock companies by the First Citizen.  It seems all companies are in violation of the tax code.

  10. d**n, Bill Lumbergh would have had the best explaination, but if people weren't dying in real life. Good sense of humor though in times like these.

  11. Well georgia killed some russian soldiers and now russia doesn't like them at all.
