Question:

Can someone explain the theory behind water or HHO being a fuel additive or/and an alternative fuel source?

These sites say I can double my MPG!!! And add a bit more HP to my engine and it's all safe! But electrolysis of water takes more energy than water itself. I can't believe the government has been hiding this! I'm NOT saying it's a sound theory. Most of it are "scams" to me but I am so curious. I want my vehicles to be more fuel efficient. I don't want to pay $4/gallon for gas. It's ridiculous!!! Okay, so I drive a gas guzzling Jeep but I also own a 1991 Honda Prelude Si. It's almost 32 mpg hwy/27 mpg city. The 1999 Jeep Wrangler is so dependable but is a miserable 14 mpg city/18 mpg hwy. Hybrids cost too much and Hydrogen costs too much to store. I don't think water is a viable option but I am willing to try anything. Please check out the sites and let me know what they are trying to sell!!! I REPEAT, PLEASE EXPLAIN THEIR THEORY ON RUNNING CARS WITH WATER. Thanks!

  1. let me start off by saying Hydrogen is a great option for the concept of free energy.     I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago. Have converted over 50 vehicles in the last 10 years (gydrogen and EV) and now currently run 2 trucks (and another EV), my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen for free with caught rain water and the help of a $10 solar panel.  I offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at www agua-luna com or you can email me.

There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it... chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I'll only discuss them here. The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I offer to those who would like to run their vehicles or home on hydrogen safely. The entire guide is available at www agua-luna com

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas “on-demand” in small cylinder size amounts. It’s actually safer then gasoline as it doesn’t evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas. the following were actually taken out of my $5 guide available at www agua-luna com

        Chemically

        1. You’ll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 pvc pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a s***w on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        2. Now crunch up a couple aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and drop them into the pvc pipe, along with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opener has lye in it, some Clorox and Drano’s do to).

        3. Then simply add water, s***w on the top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye don’t really get along so they battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that the most casualties, by giving up its hydrogen and oxygen. This then builds up in the void of the pipe and is ready to be vented into your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your engine on gas then switch it off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Electrical is a bit easier then Chemically.

        1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.

        2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they don’t touch each other.

        3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        4. Then simply add water, s***w on the top cap and wait.

After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (that’s hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I don’t remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. It’s just a modified Joe’s Cell, there’s a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here www agua-luna com

It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at  www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

  2. check it out you can order the ebooks at http://watertogashybrid.com  and if you are interested in purchasing  http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZ...

  3. It's a scam, plane and simple, nothing more.  Do not waste your money.

  4. it may work but the only feasible way would be by burning the fuel more completely this would mean that less then half of petrol in cars engine is burnt. so that complete combustion would double your MPG. in short its just cant work.

you pay 4$ a gal i end up paying about 5-6$ oil can only go up so your best bet would be buying a smaller car or a scooter.

  5. Submarines, hospitals and chemical companies have been doing this for years.  It takes a whole lot of DC power to shock pure water, which separates it into hydrogen and oxygen.  Basically, you have a nickel cadmium cylinder with a anode (negative) and a cathode (positive) side.  Inside there is usually a teflon sleeve to keep the two separated after electrolysis.  If they join together, the would spontaneously explode...  Which is how the shuttle gets to the moon.

The cathode draws the negatively charged oxygen and the anode draws the positively charged hydrogen....  Thus resulting in the two separate gases.  The machines that accomplishes this is very complicated, with numerous gas analyzers, leak detectors and safety mechanisms.  Also, these machines have to be monitored virtually 24/7 and cannot be monitored and maintained through just a few simple car gages.

Also, the water has to be pure.  Any impurities whatsoever could cause an explosion.  So, be very careful when playing with this stuff.

The problem with this technology, as stated before is that you expend far more energy to separate these two gases, than you could produce by their burning....  At least with today's technology.  It would be very nice to run off of water but also very dangerous and probably not worth the expense, considering the hazards involved.  Did I mention the space shuttle?

  6. They claim to use something called 'brown gas', but I'm not so sure about that. The 'Joe Cell' can be built from free plans at home, and seems to actually work at least some of the time. But unless you're willing to accept Aetheric or Orgone energy as real, I'm not sure there is any theory out there to explain such systems.

  7. Wikipedia actually has a very good treatment of this technology.  I found myself trying to answer the exact same question recently.  I knew that it was a scam - that it took more energy to split the water that what you would get out of it - but I wanted to know exactly what they thought they were talking about.

I'd read the wikipedia article.   I've put a link below.

  8. I've been looking into this for a while, too. The theory behind this is much as explained on the water4fuel page; i.e. in principle as follows: Electricity from the car's generator is used to "split up" water into Brown's gas (HHO), which is then fed into the air intake, burnt (reduced to H2O) in the engine, and released as steam. What it takes is basically a simple, home-made HHO generator and, in most cases, some simple, easy-to-make electronic components. The "trick" (if any!) is that the car produces HHO "on demand", thus, no storage is necessary. By the way: Even Ozzy, the guy behind the water4fuel-thing, says it's more realistic to expect something like around a 35 percent increase in gas mileage, 50 percent may be a bit far-fetched.

I'm driving a 1990 Opel Vectra A 1.8i (109 cu. in.), I currently get about 24 mpg. I intend, though, to give that HHO method a try sometime over the next couple of months, if just to see if it's any good.

Ozzy, of course, wants to sell his books; if and when I get the first results, I'll try to make them public free of charge, because IF this works, I believe the only cance NOT to get this surpressed by the oil lobby is to make it work much like Linux - open source!

Finally: Yes, it takes more energy to produce Brown's gas than burning the stuff releases; thus, at least for the time being, we're talking about a fuel supplement only!

If you don't mind sending me your e-mail address, I'll gladly keep you informed; mine's axelwurl@yahoo.com.

Thanks for your interest in this thing!

  9. Water is hydrogen and oxygen at their lowest possible

chemical energy levels, it cannot be used as fuel unless

you expend the energy to separate the hydrogen from the

oxygen by electrolosis. Any other idea about using water

as chemical fuel IS A SCAM.

  10. I believe that what happens is traces of water are drawn into the carb to create a fuller volume in the compression area.  That is the basis of it, I know many firms have claims that it works but have never met anyone who has it fitted.

  11. Only way I've ever heard of it working is a drop of water is injected into the cylinder just after ignition.   The extra heat that would have been wasted is used to vaporize the water and expand it 2700 times as steam.   Some ships have used it and Mother Earth News once (around '78?) had an article about how to convert a personal vehicle to use the water injection method.   It can wreck your vehicle if the water drop is injected a microsecond or three either side of when it is supposed to be though.
