Can someone explain the theory of Social Darwinism?

and also tell me how you think the adoption of this theory in today's society would affect our way of life??

  1. A version of natural selection which favours those with the ability to become stronger economically rather than as in nature physically. Not to be connected in any way with Darwin


  2. Only the strongest, fittest would thrive.

    Homeless people would die.  The poor would become poorer and eventually die.  We would be a libertarian society.  The rich people would find a way to make their money work for them.

  3. Social darwinism is survival of the fittest. What this effectively means is that in a market economy your survival is dependant on the amount of wealth, authority and property you have.

    In a modern society this would mean the removal of all redistrubtive services of the state, a removal of wage regulation and a removal of universally provided education etc. This would be instead regulated by the amount of money you had, the perfection of your knowledge of the products available.

    This would lead to a downward turn in social mobility for the lest well off stewing social unrest
