I know this is a really stupid question, but what does "absolve one to yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world"

I'm getting pretty tired, and I can't comprehend what that means.

Thanks ;)

  1. It is a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote.

    You need to read it in full, to grasp the meaning;

    "Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself and you shall have the sufferage of the world."

    Literally (to me, anyway) know yourself, and you may understand others.

    regards

    Don

  2. The best I can come up with is....Be to yourself blameless, and the world will be on your side.

  3. its just like everyone said,in order to understand others,one must first master themselves.....know about your own self...remember,that everything starts off from inside of you....no matter what youa are doing,the most important thing is that you know yourself first....become one with your inner self....then only you'll be able to understand the rest of the world.....
