  1. Gradation(a special technique) is used to demonstrate and emphasize that freedom, liberty and justice are not mere words. They are related and are part of a whole just like the street in Itta Bena is part of Itta Bena (btw Itta Bena is a city in Mississipi), just like that city in Mississipi is part of Mississipi, just like that department in Washington is part of Washington and they are all part of the United States. Notice how it starts from a street, then goes to a city, then state. This is gradation. That's how the quote creates the notion of existing hierarchy, order and unity. In the end the key words freedom, liberty and justice stand out united.

  2. That mean that America= Freedom, Liberty and Justice

  3. That these words are more than just names for something, they are the foundation of our existence.

  4. 2 thoughts:

1st: I feel it wants to point how cosmetic the world around us is. Just by using street names such as liberty, freedom, Justice things dont change.

2nd: I feel it wants to point out the love of an american citizen for freedom, liberty, Justice... blah blah...

  5. I think the quote is trying to tell you that names mislead. the street's names are called "freedom", "liberty", and "justice", but is there really justice, freedom, and liberty?

  6. I believe the quote means: There are towns with the name of freedom, justice and liberty but can it really exist? Meaning, justice, freedom and liberty do not exist.. at all.

  7. The freedom to do what u want etc
