Can someone explain to me how to get Top Contributer?

If I AM KIRA can get one in Words and Wordplay while using, at best, an intermediate level of grammar, vocabulary, and spelling, then it should be a breeze for me. After all, English is my native language. So how do I do it? Because I do own a skirt, if it helps.

There is some sort of secret formula, based on the number of postings and number of best answers.

Basically, you need to answer a lot of questions in one category (I guess it's a high "response density"), and have a reasobable percentage of best answers.  No, I don't know what that percentage is :)

One trick to getting "best answers" is to...well...cheat by voting for yourself.  Many questions go into voting, and you can vote for your own answer.  The majority of people forget all about them, so frequently there is only one vote -- yours.

My "Top Contributer" badge just appeared one day.  It also disappeared for a few days when I was too busy to sit down at the computer and check out Yahoo! Answers.

Pick a category that you are interested enough in, to stay in to answer as many Q's as you can.  Rumour has it that you need to get and maintain at least a 10% vote of B/A's in that category. It was about a month before I got mine in Words and Wordplay, before that I had one in Polls and Surveys but you don't get one in that category any more. You also don't get one in Jokes and Riddles. You'll get one if you're persistant but then you need to log on regulary to maintain it or you'll find it will disappear!

EDIT: And make that a short tartan skirt and some knee high boots!

It apparently is granted when you accumulate enough 'Best Answers' in a particular category, and must also depend on other Top Contributors in that particular category. My 'badge' suddenly appeared one day, and just as suddenly disappeared a couple of months later!
