Can someone explain to me this quote? Plz.

"when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace"

That was the quote, and as far as i know it's quoted by Jimi Hendrix. I don't know what it means, and being foreign doesn't help so try to use words i can understand. Thank u.

Jimi Hendrix did say this.

It means when we love each other equally on a human level, no one will desire to be more powerful than the next person.

Doubtful it will happen.

It probably came the closest to happening, at the time he was alive.   We are far far far from that now.   This was prior to the "me generation" --which has not ended, as far as I can tell.

The love of power means people who want power. You know, oil companies, greedy kings, stuff like that. This is all bad for the people, he's saying, because they only try to make things better for themselves.

power and love has two different meanings in this quotation.

in the "power of love" power is means strength of love or the ability to love, love meaning a state of being. As in the strength of your love for someone or something.

in the "love of power"  power means authority over someone or something, and love being a strong emotion for that authority. As in your love to be loved.

The quotation means that when the strength of your love for your fellowmen is more than your love for your authority over them, there would be peace on earth.

This quotes is pretty deep.

It is saying when love triumphs over greed, selfishness, and other evil traits like those, then peace will come. It doesn't specify a certain group of people. It is not saying when the nice people beat the bad people we will all be happy. But it's saying when people, individually can have enough love in their self to suppress their natural desire for power they will have peace. Essentially when we care and love other things than ourselves and our greed, we will obtain happiness and peace.
