  1. Brainstorming means listing all the ideas related to the topic.

Once you brainstorm, you'll have all the points in front of you (you can avoid forgetting key points by doing this). Next, you can separate the big and small details. The small details can be used to support the big ones. Points that are not relevant to the topic or are not important enough can be eliminated.

Based on the brainstorming, you can create an outline (a rough format of the writing). The outline requirements vary from course to course/ teacher to teacher.

Brainstorming is an important step of the pre-writing process.

  2. Brainstorming is like throwing up...only with pen and paper. Get out every idea you can think of as far as a topic and a direction for the paper. Don't hold back. Don't judge the work. No idea is a bad idea in brainstorming. Organizing and narrowing your ideas will come later.

  3. When you 'brainstorm' you just write some general ideas that you know you will incorporate into your paper.

This could take the form of an outline, but sometimes brainstorming can be just random--its up to you, or the guidelines you've been given.

Really, this is just an exercise to help get you started before you begin to write the paper.

I recommend using an outline format.  That way your thoughts can be put into categories if need be.

    Good Luck!

  4. in simple terms, search your brain for as many ideas as you can come up with - diversified thinking, thinking out of the box ....jot them down, then choose & organize them within a frame of reference.

it is basically generating as many ideas as you can. just go for it - no holds barred ... organize later once you've run out of steam/ideas...

    all the best.

re. your further query - the answer depends on what your report requirement is exactly. is it going to be an early draft which will have to be cleared by the teacher & then youcan proceed further? or do you have to present the final complete report itself? it would be better if you find out from your teacher. otherwise, try this -

once you've brainstormed & selected & organized your ideas into the format you desire or are satisfied with, include this within a box/window as a diagrammtic representation/flow chart/jotting list [it all depends on the topic...]. the detailed paper/report can be written as usual with intro, etc....

this form of presentation will give the teacher a clear picture of how you went about creating & writing your report 0 the 'skeleton' within a box & the 'flesh & organs & body' as a main copy.

hope i've made myself clear to you ;-)
