  1. Tofu is essentially flavorless.  It tastes like whatever it is you cook with it, so it's wonderfully versatile.

  2. not much, whatever you cook it with.

  3. it doesnt have a taste... it soaks up the flavor of the sauce or w/e u put on it..

  4. It has no real flavor..it takes on the flavor of whatever you cook it with.

  5. Tofu is almost flavorless which is its greatest virtue. YOU can make it taste like anything you like from appetizer to soup, to salad dressing, to salad, to main dish, to dessert with a whole lot of delicious stops along the way. Tofu can be anything and everything and not limited to any one expression. It can be a deviled tofu egg, a tofu eggless salad, a scrambled tofu, or a tofu rancheros. It could be a tofu omelet, or a tofu cutlet, or a Tex Mex Love Boat. It could be a Carrot Coriander Tofu Quiche and really make people smile. It could be a huge part of Maryland Not Crab Cakes, or Tofulishness or Potatofu Patties. It could be baked into a cake where it would serve in place of eggs as a binder -- or whipped into a creamy White or Dark Chocolate Tofu Mousse studded with fresh berries. You are limited only by your creativity and imagination. Mostly it is so delicious that people do not believe it is lowly Tofu. . . Want to see how? Go to All about Tofu and then on Our Tofu Recipes

because you wont know until you make something extraordinary and enjoy it! Have fun!

  6. Tastes like a watery bean...to me, tofu picks up the flavors it is cooked with

  7. bean curd. haha idk.? but you have to like the texture to like the tofu.

  8. as stated above, Tofu has a bland and chalky taste (curdled taste if you will). Many people can eat it fresh without cooking and typically use Soy Sauce or another dipping sauce to give it some flavor.

Do to its nature it absorbs everything it touches and is around which is why it is great (or horrible for some).

  9. like nothing, until you mix it with other foods

  10. Just try it! Why are you asking this instead of trying it. Did you think it could kill you or something?

  11. Tofu is pretty neutral.  It absorbs flavors well, so it basically tastes like whatever you want!

  12. It does not have a strong taste, it's the texture that throws people off. If you eat it by itself, it has a bean aftertaste, but when the tofu is cooked in a sauce, the sauce overpowers the tofu. Now the texture depends on what kind of tofu you get. There is silky, firm, and extra firm. Silky tofu has a very thick flan or jello texture. Firm and extra firm kind of tastes like... hmm I guess a sponge-like texture.

If you decide to eat tofu for the first time, try it at a restaurant who knows how to use it. I've heard of people trying to cook tofu and eat it for the first time, and the results are usually bad.

  13. It has no taste, just a texture. You have to add spices and stuff to give it a flavor. It steals the flavor of whatever you cook it with.

  14. the actual taste of TOFU is bland- no flavor but the great thing is- whatever you add or cook with it- it will taste like- it's like a flavor sponge it soaks up whatever you put with it

  15. It depends on how you cook it, and what you cook it with, but by itself it is pretty bland and kind of watery. It can be a bit chewy as well.
