Can someone explain what Shia Muslims' beliefs are? I am very confused.?

Salamacum everyone. I ws just wondering what are Shia Muslims' beliefs. I am very confused because I have been getting many different things. Please, confirm your answer by research or at least know what you are talking about.

i'll tell u but it's gonna be long so pleez read. and wat i say i dont think any shia or sunni will be against it.

shia was a sect that was formed mainly due to the murder of Othman(ra). people in general asked Ali(ra) to be the next khaleefa. but everyone did not give Ali the biya cuz there was a chaos to who killed the khaleefa Othman(ra).Aa-isha, talha and zubayr(ra) went up to Ali and told him that we want the murderers of Othman to be killed (islamic shari'a) but Ali(ra) refused to do so cuz according to the shari'a it is clear that no common man can ask 4 the body of the killer except that the person is from the family of the killed. so Ali (ra) said that i am ready to do so but i am waiting for someone from the family to ask. Mu'aawiya was a companion from the family of Othman and so he went up and asked Ali(ra) for the body. but again Ali(ra) refused to do so cuz Mu'aawiya(ra) had not given the biyaa to Ali(ra) and so Alira) cud not. he sed that i will do but frst u giv the biyaa but Mu'aawiya(ra) refused and sed i'll giv biyaa after i get the blood of the killer. this caused 2 main battles that caused Muslims to fight against Muslims.

no1 can say Ali was right nor can any1 say that Mu'awiya was right. cuz the prophet had already predicted this and had sed that MUSLIMS WILL FIGHT AGAINST MUSLIMS. note that he called both the grps muslims. so you cant say this grp is rite and thats rong. lets leave it up to Allah to decide.

this caused the muslims to break up.sum years later, pple of Ali's grp started saying against Aa-isha(ra) and then it went to the father of Aa-isha(ra) Abu Baker(ra) and then pple started telling that Abu Baker [though he wasn't there in the entire story] was not supposed to be the khaleefa but Ali should've been the khaleefa.and pple started going against abu baker(ra).(most of shia are against abu baker)

and then again years this thing of giving preference to Alii mprovised that some pple sed Muhammed was not the prophet but Ali was.(not all shia say this. it's a very small grp)

btw the names of the 2 battles are jamal & siffeen. i have not exp the cause of the 2nd battle cuz it's too long.

this was the formation of shia sect. now coming to their beliefs.

there are 33 different beliefs within the shia grp it self.

any way i'll generalise.

-they believe that all 12 imams have come to the earth and the 12th imam has disappeared. it is imam mehdi but some shia just the other day said that it was the grandson of the prophet. and they believe that he'l *** b4 the day of judgement.the sunnis believe that imam mehdi will *** but they dont believe that he already came and now he disappeared.

-they7 r completly against the 3 khaleefas and favour ali over them all.

-sum shia keep a stone in which ali waliyullah is carved on their prayer mats and they prostrate on it. note that i sed sum and not all. this is shirk.

-sum say that jibraeel did a mistake. instead of revealing the message upon ali he did it to muhammed. i again sed sum and not all.

-they wear black clothes on muharram as a grief for the death of the prophets grandson. (it's meaningless they say that they sho respect to him but y dont they grive on the day when the prophet died? doesn't he deserve more respect?)

-all shia beat themselves on 10 muharram. but sum beat v lightly and sum beat so hard that blood flows of their bodies.

-they have a different creed. as muslims we say la ilaha ill Allah muhammed rasoolullah but shia have a different one. they say:

la ilaha ill Allah muhammed rasoolullah wa ali wali Allah.

                                                                     & ali is wali of Allah.

this is their main belief.

Shia Islam :

Believeing in one God (Allah).

Mohammad(saw) is the last messenger of God.Total messengers are 124000 in total.

Quran is the book of Allah which was revealed on our last prophet(saw).

Ali (as) is the true sucesser of Prophet and Imam after prophet.

Ali (as) was declared the successor of our prophet(saw) by prophet(saw) himself. check the "GHADEER".

there are 12 Imams after prophet starting from Ali(as) and the last is Imam Mahdi(as) who will come with jesus(as).

Imamat.

They believe that Mohammed PBUH has appointed Ali Ibn Abi Talib as his successor in his lifetime and sahabah in general disobeyed order of Prophet Mohammed PBUH and almost all of them have become apostate.

It is part of their religion to curse sahabah.

For them biggest kafirs are those who were nearest to Prophet Mohammed PBUH in his life time.

They believe patriarchy of Prophet continues through Ali, Hasan, Hussain and their progeny. For them only family of Prophet is important.

They also believe that Theirs Imams recieved wahi from Allah as Prophet used to receieve

They consider their Imam infallibe.

They believe that existing Quran is not complete.

They believe that wives of Prophet Ayesha and Hafsa as worst kafirah, some of the even accuse Ayesha for adultery (May Allah curse them for this)

They believe that mutta (prostituition) is one of the greatest virtue.

They believe that hiding their beliefs from Ahlus Sunnah is greate work of virtue.

Most of their rituals revolve around mourning and cursing.

Above beliefs are of ithna Ashri (twelvers) shia. Majority of Iraqi, Irani, Lebanese, Indian and Pakistani shiar are twelvers.

Shia muslims are basically muslims who followed Ali as their succesor rather than Abu Baka. They add on an extra to the shahada about him also. Shia' muslims pray only 3 times a day, they believe that their Imaam's have a divine connection with Allah and so asking them to pray for something would more likely to come true than asking ALlah for something yourself. They believe that Imaam's can interpret the Quran, they also have added more to the main Hadiths and think that they can add, take away or interpret the Quran and Hadith. Shia's also curse Sunni muslim in their prayer and some take part in the event when they hit themselves with the knifes etc (i forgot what it's called). They believe in Muta (temporary marriage)

Sunni's do not agree with these teachings, It is shirk to believe that a mere Human has more power and a divne connection to Allah, it is wrong to believe they can speak to allah as Muhammad did. It's is wrong to add or take away any of the Quran and Hadith and therefore Sunni's do not agree at all. It is haram to inflict pain on yourself and to curse others. It's haram to put yourself in a higher possition than others like the Imaams.

I personally think the shia beliefs and practices are wrong.

Lailaha Illallah Muhammad-ur-Rasoollullah Ali-un-Waliullah!

There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the Final Messenger of Allah and Ali is His (Allah's) Wali.

The Proof of Wilayat of Imam Ali in the Qur'an, in other words, the proof of Imam Ali being the Wali of Allah.

'Only Allah is your wali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who say their prayers and offer zakat (even) while prostrating (in prayers). And whoever takes for wali Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, they, indeed, are the party of Allah; they are the ones who shall achieve victory.'

(Qur'an, 5:55-56)

Nobody doubts the fact that these verses were revealed in honor of `Ali who offered his own ring in the way of Allah while engaged in performing the prayers.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR GUIDANCE?

If we believe that Allah (SWT) directly guides us, then He might had done this from the very beginning and would not have sent any messenger. If the book of Allah is sufficient then why we Muslims are divided into sects? And if we take the help of traditions in support to Qur’an, we find many fabricate tradition which goes against the book of Allah.

As we know that Allah (SWT) has already announced in Holy Qur’an; Majority will lead to astray. And His Prophet pbuh.gif has said; After me, my ummah will split into 73-sect and only one will be on the right path, and after remembering the promise done by Shaytan, I will lead majority of them to astray. In such a situation, Do we not feel, in need of a true leader who can guide us to the right path?

When Prophet Musa as.gif was called at Tur by Allah (SWT) for 40-days, he never left his people alone, but appointed Haroun as a leader. Then how it is possible that the last Messenger of Allah pbuh.gif after whom there is no more Prophet to come for the guidance of the people, left this world forever without appointing any leader for his Ummah?

Is it true! That Allah and his Last messenger had not appointed any guardian for the believers? Or we had been kept away from this truth for the sake of worldly interest?

Allah (SWT) says, And (as for) those who strive hard for Us, We will most certainly guide them in Our ways, and Allah is most surely with the doers of good. (Qur’an 29:69) The word strive (Jihad) in the Qur’anic verse carries the meaning of scientific research to reach the truth, and Allah will lead anyone to the truth, if he chooses to seek it.

SO LET US FINDOUT THE TRUTH AND GET ATTACHED WITH THE RIGHT SECT

Many of our Sunni scholars have quoted the incident regarding the appointment of the Caliph by Prophet Mohammad pbuh.gif. The date of this incident was the 18th of Zil-Hijjah of the year 10 AH. After completing his last pilgrimage, Holy Prophet pbuh.gif was leaving Makkah and heading towards Madinah, where he and the crowd of people reached a place called Ghadir Khum. In this place, the following verse of the Qur’an was revealed: O Apostle! Deliver what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you don’t do it, you have not delivered His message (at all)... (Qur’an 5:67).

Upon receiving this verse, the Prophet pbuh.gif stopped on that place and sent for all people who have been ahead in the way, to come back and waited until all pilgrims who fell behind, arrived and gathered. He ordered his companion Salman as.gif to make a pulpit so he could make his announcement.

The Messenger of Allah pbuh.gif declared: It seems the time approached when I shall be called away (by Allah) and I shall answer that call. I am leaving for you two precious things and if you adhere to them both, you will never go astray after me. They are the Book of Allah and my Progeny that is my Ahl al-Bayt. The two shall never separate from each other until they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise).

Then the Messenger of Allah continued: Do I not have more right over the believers than what they have over themselves? People cried and answered: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. The Prophet pbuh.gif held up the hand of Ali and said: For whoever I am his Leader, this Ali ibn Abu Talib is his Leader. Ali ibn Abu Talib is my brother, my successor, my Caliph (Vicegerent) after me. O men! Allah has made Ali your Wali (guardian), and Imam (guide). Obedience to him is obligatory on each one of you; his command is supreme; his utterance is truth; O Allah, love those who love Ali, and be hostile to those who are hostile to Ali.

Immediately after the Prophet finished his speech, the following verse of the Qur’an was revealed: This day have I perfected for you, your religion, and have completed My favour on you, and chosen for you ISLAM (to be) the religion. (Qur’an 5:3)

(Ref.: Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal in his Musnad, Hafiz Abu Jafar Mohammad ibn Jarir Tabari in his Kitab al-Wilayah, Shaykh Sulayman Balkhi in Yanabi al-Mawaddah, Manaqib of Ahmad, ibn Hajar Makki in his Sawa’iq Muhriqah, Chapter 2, Sulayman Balkhi Hanafi in his Yanabi al-Mawaddah chapter 12).

The above verse clearly indicates that Islam without clearing up the matter of leadership after Prophet pbuh.gif was not complete, and completion of religion was due to announcement of the Prophet’s immediate successor.

SO IF THE RELIGION IS NOT COMPLETE WITHOUT THE APPOINTMENT OF A SUCCESSOR THEN HOW FAITH CAN BE COMPLETE WITHOUT ACCEPTING A TRUE SUCCESSOR?

Our Sunni scholars have written in there books that the Prophet pbuh.gif said: If one wishes to look at Adam, Noah, and Abraham, look at Ali. Ali is from me and I am from Ali. Nobody can discharge the duty of my mission except me and Ali. O Ali! You are foremost in faith in Islam among all the Muslims, and you are to me as Aaron was to Moses, He who thinks he is my friend while he is your enemy is a liar.

(Ref.: ibn Maja in his Sunan, Part I, page 92; Tirmidhi in his Sahih; Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal in Musnad, v.4, page 164; Mohammad ibn Yusuf Ganji Shafi’i in chapter 67 of Kifayat at-Talib, Imam Abu Abd ar-Rahman Nisa’i in Khasa’is, and Sulayman Balkhi Hanafi in Yanbi al-Mawaddat)

Imam Abu Ishaq Ahmed ibn Ibrahim al-Nisaburi al-Tha`labi[3] has stated in his Al-Tafsir al-Kabir. When the writer comes to this verse, he quotes Abu Tharr al-Ghifari saying:

"I have heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, with these ears - may I be deaf if I tell a lie - and saw him with these eyes - may I be blinded if I lie - saying: `Ali is the leader of the pious, the annihilator of infidels; whoever supports him is supported by Allah, and whoever abandons him is abandoned by Allah.' I have, indeed, said my prayers once in the company of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, when a beggar came to the mosque and nobody gave him anything. `Ali was in the state of ceremonial prostration when he beckoned to him to take his ring. The beggar came and took it from `Ali's finger, whereupon the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, invoked Allah, the Almighty, the Omniscient, and prayed Him on behalf of `Ali saying: `Lord! My Brother Moses had prayed to you saying: Lord! Remove the distress from my bosom, render my mission easy for me, and untie my tongue's knot so that people may understand me, and let me have a vizier from my own kin, my brother Aaron, to support my endeavour and participate in my undertaking, so that we may both praise you a great deal and mention your Name a great deal; You have been most Kind unto us (Qur'an, 20:25-35);-thereupon, You inspired to him: Verily, your prayer has been granted, O Moses! (Qur'an, 20:36). Lord! I am Your servant and Prophet; therefore, remove my distress, render my mission easy for me, and grant me a vizier from my kin, `Ali, to support my endeavour'. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, had hardly finished his supplication before Gabriel, the trusted one, brought him this verse:

`Only Allah is your wali and His Messenger and those who believe, those who say their prayers and offer zakat (even) while prostrating (in prayers). And whoever takes for wali Allah, His Messenger, and the believers, they, indeed, are the party of Allah; they are the ones who shall achieve victory (Qur'an, 5:55-56).'"

Lexicographers have made it clear that whoever takes charge of someone's affairs is the latter's wali. The meaning of the verse, therefore, is as though Allah says that "the ones who take charge of your affairs and have priority even over your own lives in faring with the latter are: Allah, the Almighty and Omniscient, His Messenger, and `Ali," for in `Ali alone have all these qualities been combined: faith, saying the prayers, and offering zakat even while prostrating in prayers, and for whom these verses were thus revealed. The Almighty has in these verses reserved wilayat for Himself and for both His Messenger and wasi in the same manner. The wilayat of Allah, the Almighty and Omniscient, is general and inclusive. So is the wilayat of the Prophet as well as his wali; it carries the same meaning. It is not possible to apply to it in this context the meanings of "supporter, loved one, etc.," since such a restriction [of application] is groundless, as is quite obvious.

Ahlebait (s) are the Household of the Prophet (s) and children of Bibi Fatima (as) from Imam Ali (as) being Her husband (The first Imam) to the 12th Imam, Imam Mahdi (as). The Ahlebait are the 12 Imams and Bibi Fatima and Prophet Muhammad (saww) included, who are the 14 Infallibles, The Purest Ones.

thats exactly why i asked the questioner to read khilafat-o-mulukiat..because Maulana Madudi was a sunni and believed Abu bakr n umer were the right caliphs-->which i dont believe ....but since sunnis do, it would be of their concern to read about shiaism through a sunni source rather then a shia source.......

and FYI, Khilafat-o-Mulukiat is an authentic book ....the ones you bring all your false accusations about shiaism from are unauthentic....the ones you bring all your wrong knowledge and lies from are unauthentic books......

A part of the Shee'ah belief is called "Taqiyyah" and it is to lie. So you'll never get a trustworthy answer from them.

If you want to learn about their true beliefs, just read their own books like al-Kaafi and Nahjul Balagha and Bihaar al anwaar. It's filled with Kufr and Shirk.

This way the Rawaafidh shee'ah cannot accuse you of taking your information from Sunnis which are twisted.

Just read their books, it's fill with their evil Aqeedah.

Shia's are a sect of Muslim in which there are many denominations (groups). The largest group is the 12ers or Ithna Ashari who believe in the Imams from Ali until the 12th imam who they said dissappered and well come back.

However, there are many types of Shia's and the best info. is avaiable in books from the Institute of Ismaili Studies-London or at a college such as Williams, Harvard, or University of Texas-Austin to name a few.

Shia's basically follow the teachings and saying of Prophet Muhammadd (SAW) and Imam Ali(AS). And after that His(AS) son's generation through Hussain(AS). We follow whatever his son's said, because they are the only purified family that walked on this earth.

As said in the Quran in surah Al Ahzab ayat 33. Basically we differ in fiqh and aqidah,and interpretations of Hadiths,Have different roots and branches(pillars) of Islam otherwise were the same because we believe in Allah and His commands.

There r other sects like shias and qadiyani etc r different than sunni.and out of the fold of islam.

SHIAS who denied the sincerity of the Ahlbayt (wives)and companion of the prophet(SAW)and claimed that all the companion were hypocrate except the three.So they denied the guaidance of them did not benefit of their knowledge,so lost the main knowledge transfered through them ,thats why they didnt follow the main stream of muslims.And dont have authentic sources.

Even they deny the authenticity of Quran (main Source),bcoz it was compiled by the people who shia belief were not even muslims

So,obviously , shia couldn't trust on the work of dishonest people.and rejected the main knowledge transferd trouhg them.

Their religion based on their Imams ,Who didnt get any power and atlast their twelvth Imam went under ground with their holy book.And will come out from the cave and then bring the real knowledge.So they r still waitting for the real knowledge!!!!
