Can someone explain what my EyeGlass prescription means?

Okayy so i went and got my eyes examed and this is what was writen down.

OD: Sphere 100 Cylinder -25 Axis 125

OS: Sphere 100 Cylinder -25 Axis 67

Care to explain?

  1. Well, there needs to be either a + or a - in front of the first number.  If it is a +, then you are hyperopic, or far-sighted.  Far-sighted people see better at distances than up close.  If it is a -, than you are myopic, or near-sighted.  Near-sighted people see better up close than far away.

    The second & third numbers (cylinder and axis) mean that you have a slight astigmatism in both eyes.  Astigmatism just means that your eye is not perfectly round like a baseball, but a little irregular more like a football.  Here is a link that explains it better than I can.  http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/understa...
