Can someone find out if i am logged on to the internet.?

Hi everyone,

can you tell me if it is possible for someone who knows me, to see if i am logged on to the internet or not, if they can`t, that`s fine, but if they can, how do they do it.?

What do you mean logged onto the internet? You dont log onto the internet there is no user name or password (your internet service provider might have it but thats not logging on to the internet)

if your purpose is to talk to that person you can use one of several different programs such as Windows Live messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talks , AIM and they use the same program and you add each other. If you want something to talk you can use skype or again any of the other messenger i said as they all have the talk feature.

On the other hand if you want the other person to just be able to see if you are connected to the internet or not you could give that person your ipaddress (google how to obtain computer IPaddres for your machine) and give them that. Then they can just run a 'ping' command and if you are connected they will be able to ping you but this is dangerous and i dont recommend it becuase once someone has your full valid ip address they can if they are skilllled enough gain access to your computer and compromise your data

Simply pinging the IP address of the modem will tell them if the modem is on or not. Though if you have Cable or DSL, those things are always on, so it will say you're online no matter what, which really is no more useful than guessing.

Dialup modems can only be "pinged" when they are connected, which will be a great indicator if they are online or not. However, since most dialup modems change IP addresses every time you log in, it would be very difficult to keep track.

So I'd say you're pretty safe. Why would you worry anyway?

no one will know that you are on the internet unless they were stood next to you...
