My son is behind in his course credits and is about to be a h.s. senior. His school offers a program which will allow him to independently study and complete his coursework. He will loose his gpa and class rank, but still receive a high school diploma. Are there colleges out there that will look at his independent attitude, extra-curricular activities, leadership etc. and still accept him?

  1. Absolutely!!  However, he still needs to take the ACT and SAT so he will have something academic for them to look at.

  2. Sure, all but the top 100 schools will have no problem with this. Have him really study for the SAT or ACT as scores will become more important.

  3. Depends on your location apparently...

What you can do is start off at a 2-year school or technical college then transfer to a 4-year college after a year or two. As it is much easier (and cheaper) to transfer than to start from scratch at university.
