Not all camcorders have AV-in capabilities. If yours does, those instructions will be in the manual. If you do not have the manual, download it from the sony.com support area.

You did not tell us which Sony camcorder you are trying to do this with (if you had, I would have looked in the manual). Generally, only the miniDV tape based units allowed for this. The last one - of which I am aware - was the DCR-HC96. DVD based, hard drive based and flash memory based camcorders typically do not have the AV-in feature.
