Extreme weather conditions depends very much on what you do. In aviation, there is something called SIGMET i.e. significant meteorological information. It is what may make flying dangerous and includes: fog, freezing fog or rain, cumulonimbus (thunderstorm clouds) shear winds and volcanic ashes.

Of course, none of that represent a danger for you at home. You will only fear what brings a lot of wind and a lot of rain, which is: a very deep low pressure.
