I suggest Slovenia! It provides lots of things to explore for a person interested in hiking or history! There are lots of pathways for hikers in the northern Slovenia such as Triglav National Park, the area around Bled and Lake Bohinj, as well as lots of old buildings and museums in the capital Ljubljana. And even castles, one in Ljubljana and another in Bled, and in Postojna there is even a stalactite cave! Oh, and in Lipica you can see the world-famous white Lipican horses too!
